George T. Moschenrose, 89, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Public graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham with military rites. Arrangements are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Due to Covid-19 concerns, please wear a mask for all services and follow all social distancing guidelines.

George was born on February 17, 1931, in Gorham, IL, the son of Albert and Margaret (Lewis) Moschenrose. He married Dorothea (Flack) Bell on April 1, 1956. She preceded him in death on December 1, 2002.

George served his country in the United States Army. He was employed at Norge-Fedders in Effingham. He enjoyed working with his hands and carpentry, even helping build the Church of the Nazarene in Effingham. He also liked to farm. George put his family first. This great love for his family was built on small gestures like riding his bike to work just to save money.

George is survived by his children, Robert Bell, Rebekah (Terry) Fielitz, Daniel (Penny) Moschenrose, Michael Moschenrose, Janice (John) Flack, and Mark (Debbie) Moschenrose; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul Moschenrose, Norvel (Stella) Moschenrose, Jim (Dorothy) Moschenrose; and sisters, Patsy (Clarence) Funneman, Betty (Kevin) Lynch, and Dianne Carrico.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; great-grandson, David Welton; and brother-in-law, Glen Carrico.
