Danny D. Heiden, 75, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Effingham Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
 
Private family services will be held at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Shumway. Memorial donations may be given to Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Shumway or to the donor's choice. Online condolences may be left by clicking here.
 
Danny was born on August 20, 1945, the son of Melvin and Virginia Heiden. He grew up in the Shumway area and graduated valedictorian of his class at Beecher City High School. He received his bachelors and masters degrees from Eastern Illinois University. He then taught math at Effingham High School in the 1970's. Later, Danny was the owner and operator of several businesses in the Altamont area. After his retirement, he worked part time for Clarkson Furniture in Altamont.
 
Danny was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shumway. He was also a long-time member of Elks Lodge #1016 in Effingham. He enjoyed University of Illinois basketball and NASCAR racing.
 
Danny is survived by his sister, Dixie (Jim) Brown of Tucson, Arizona; brother, Doug (Sandy) Heiden of Shumway; nieces, Michelle Gillespie, Tara (Jeff) Snow, Amber (Blaine) Wilhour and nephew, Cole Heiden.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and nephews, Jimmy Brown and Jeffery Brown.
