Robert Dale “Bob” Landers, 79, of Decatur, IL passed away at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL with his loved ones by his side.
Bob was born on October 18, 1940, in Cowden, the son of Lane and Waunitta (Wiley) Landers. He attended Cowden Grade School and graduated from Eisenhower High School in Decatur. Bob had fond memories of growing up in the Cowden and Holliday area. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Stephen Masonic Lodge #979 in Decatur. Bob and Carolyn “Sue” Campbell were united in holy matrimony on October 16, 1981. He worked as a millwright with the Millwright Local Union 1051 for over 40 years. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Sue Landers of Decatur; two sons: Jerry Landers and Tom Landers, both of Decatur; three step-sons: Danny Purcell of Kansas, Tim Purcell of Decatur and Rodney Purcell of Kansas; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters: Delores and Mae.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bud and Gary and sister Clara.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7 in Mound Cemetery in Cowden with Pastor Steve Ingram officiating. Military rites will be performed by the Shelby County Honor Guard. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at the South Shores Christian Church, 130 Bristol Dr, Decatur, IL. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden is assisting the family.
