Hazel was born on August 16, 1913, in St. James, IL, the daughter of Pearl and Anna (Schaub) Eyestone. She married Noble B. Percival on May 9, 1934 in Washington D.C. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1986.
In her younger years, Hazel was part of the steno pool for the Internal Revenue Service in Washington D.C. After they were married in Washington D.C., she was a loving wife and mother for their daughters. As a homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, baking, and her flower gardens. Throughout her entire life she was always health conscious, but loved her chocolate and donuts. Sitting around the table telling stories with her daughters and family filled her heart with joy. She also liked to mushroom hunt and pick blackberries wherever she could find them. Hazel loved anything chocolate; chocolate candy, chocolate pie, chocolate cake, ice cream with lots of hot fudge and peanuts. At birthday parties, she would eat a sample of every dessert.
She loved all of her flowers. She enjoyed planting tulips and daffodils. She loved all animals especially watching the deer in her backyard. She would always tell you the animals that had visited to eat the food she had thrown out, deer, raccoons, turtles, opossum, and birds. She would let you know when the pesky squirrels were eating all the bird seed. She loved her cat Blackie.
Hazel is survived by her daughters, Joan Collins of Palm City, FL, Judy (Rick) Clough of Jackson, TN, Linda (Gary) Poland of Effingham, and Jeanne (Jim Blakeman) Holland of Darlington, IN; grandchildren, Jill (Preston) Ball, Juli Collins, Josh (Tonia) Collins, Jay (Lisa) Stortzum, Kim (Bill) Lane, Aaron (Monica) Stortzum, Vanese (Don) Corey, Jamie (Adam) Sheard, Jessica (Ryan) Batten, Blaine (Julie) Poland, Rachael (Bob) Orsborn, Kory (Julie) Poland, Dale (Mia Martini) Holland, Katie (John) Russell, and Jenny (David) Erickson; great-grandchildren, Staci Ball, Ashley Skipper, Leah Young, Isaac Ball, Jesse Ball, Jared Ball, Rebekah Ball, Jada Ball, Preston Ball, Josh Smith, Kati Marlar, Max Collins, Summer Collins, Meagan Clifton, Katy Clifton, Madilynn Stortzum, Miles Wall, Katlyn Lane, Alyssa Lane, Blake Lane, Myles Stortzum, Lily Stortzum, Tess Stortzum, Camille Corey, Ruby Batten, Mabelline Batten, Brennan Poland, Brayton Poland, Dacia Sheppard, Danielle Stumeier, Brandi Orsborn, Ellie Poland, Judson Poland, Jay Poland, John Elias Russell, Mary Russell, Veronica Russell, Joseph Russell, and Ruby Erickson; and great-great-grandchildren, Caden, Jaxon, Asher, Rosalee, Emma, Kai, Kash, Brendan, Kopelyn, Maiverie, and Aria and Ava on the way.
