Wilma L. "Sis" Reed (93) of Shumway

Wilma L. “Sis” Reed, 93, of Shumway, IL, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 7 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Wilma was born on August 26, 1925, in Effingham County, IL, the daughter of Henry and Dorothy Ashenbremer. She was united in marriage to Alfred “Pete” Reed on March 30, 1946 in Effingham County, IL, and he preceded her in death on March 3, 2016.

Wilma worked at the Illinois Glove Factory before her marriage. She went from a town girl to a farmer’s wife. She helped on the farm and was a full-time wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and canning. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Effingham.

Wilma is survived by her children, Pat (Larry) Neihls of Beecher City, Dave (Karrie) Reed of Shumway, and Betty Jo Reed of Shumway; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Lori; and sister, Alma Dial.
