Dorothy L. Wolverton, age 95 of Villa Grove, Il., died at 11:00 AM on Saturday Sept. 15, 2018 HSHS St. Anthony's Medical Hospital in Effingham, Il.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday Sept. 22 in the Joines Funeral Home (Il Rt 130 S) Villa Grove, Il., with pastor Randy Walters officiating. Burial will be in the Villa Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 am to 11 am Saturday.
Dorothy was born May 11, 1923 in McClure, Il., a daughter of Byron and Alma (Giles) Stone, she married James (Dewey) Wolverton May 9, 1942, he died April 17, 2004.
Surviving are three daughters, Donna Miller of Broadlands, Il., Teresa Carney of Monticello, Il., and Tracy Pankau of Effingham, 13 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 12 step great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 2 step great great grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two daughters, and three sisters.
During WWII Dorothy was a Rosie the Riveter at the Western Cartridge Munitions plant in Alton, Il. she worked at Little Fuse, and she was a school cook in Villa Grove for many years. She enjoyed all the activities at the Villa Grove Senior Center, but she mostly enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to the Living Hope Fellowship Church in Villa Grove, Il.
