Four people were injured when two vehicles collided in the eastern part of Effingham County Wednesday evening.

The crash happened at 7:27pm on US Route 40 at 2100th Street between Teutopolis and Montrose.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports a vehicle driven by 59-year-old Randall Hites of Effingham was stopped on 2100th Street at the highway, while a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Sadie Landis of Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania was eastbound on the highway. Deputies report that Hites proceeded to cross the highway and the units collided in the intersection. The Hites vehicle came to rest in the roadway, while the Landis vehicle ended up in the south ditch.

Hites was injured, as were three of his passengers, 34-year-old Zachary Simmons of Effingham, 30-year-old Michael Westendorf of Teutopolis, and 54-year-old Brenda Cooper of Louisville. All four of those injured were taken for treatment to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. All four were treated, then released.
