The Effingham Regional Career Foundation’s Board of Directors updated bylaws, elected new directors, rehired the Explore ERCA facilitator and conducted other business during their 2023 Annual Meeting and March Board meeting.
Board members elected to new two-year terms representing the Business and Community were Sara Ruding, Lanracorp and Norma Lansing, community member. Re-elected were Justin Niebrugge, Stevens Industries; Dave Jansen, Siemer Milling Company and Kevin Stundon, Patterson Companies. Remaining Board members are Chad Thompson, NAL; Kelly Roepke, Y-Yard Auto Truck and Steve Mette, South Central FS. Emily Plumlee, HSHS Human Resource Generalist, was appointed to complete the unexpired term of Autumn McCormick, who resigned due to a change in job responsibilities.
A change to the bylaws was approved that adds one Effingham County Principal and one Effingham County Counselor on a rotating basis. Recommended and approved by the Board were Kurt Roberts, Principal at Effingham High School, who will serve from 2023-2025 and Tammy Bloemer, Dieterich High School Counselor, who will serve from 2023-2024. Additional bylaws changes approved relate to the length of time an officer can serve, a job description for the Administrative Agent and addition of a guest attendance policy.
During the regular Board meeting, a quote from Tingley Insurance for directors and officers liability insurance was approved, Cassie Carpenter was rehired as the Explore ERCA class facilitator for Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 and it was reported that the Fall 2023 Explore Class is full. ERCA Director Jerry Tkachuk reported that ERCA will be represented at the Effingham County Chamber Career Fair and the 8th Grade Career Conference at Lake Land College. Board Chair Norma Lansing reported that the application has been submitted to the Internal Revenue Service for tax exempt status.
