Filing Period for April Election Begins Today

Today is the start of the filing period for those wishing to seek election to a number of local offices.

8am marks the start of the filing period for Effingham City Council and Altamont City Council. All five seats...mayor and four commissioners...are up for grabs in both cities.

This is also the start of the filing period for Effingham Park Board, where two seats are to be filled, and for the Lake Land College Board of Trustees, where three seats will be filled.

The City Council seats are for four-year terms, and the Park Board and Community College seats are for six-year terms.

The filing period for each office runs through Monday, December 19 at 5pm.

The election is in April of 2023.
