After a few months of discussion, Teutopolis Village Board members gave the okay this week to using side-by-sides in the village.

The guidelines for use of the recreational off-highway vehicles are being included in the ordinance that governs use of golf carts in Teutopolis. The side-by-sides will be permitted anywhere in the village by those who live in Teutopolis. There will be a $100 fee for a sticker to place on the vehicles.

The guidelines should be in place in January.

Board members passed an ordinance requiring speaker's cards for those who wish to speak at a village meeting, and limits the speaker's time to make remarks. The Board also agreed to pour a concrete sidewalk by the water tower next the Stevens Industries' parking lot. Stevens' employees will be able to use the sidewalk to get from the vehicles into work.
