Murder suspect Clayton Anderson is back in Shelby County, and made his initial court appearance Friday.
The 26-year-old Anderson is charged with first degree murder in the death of his grandmother Sherry Hubbartt of Clarksburg in April, as well as concealment of homicidal death and possession of a stolen vehicle. Hubbartt's body was found in her home on April 18, while Anderson and a co-defendant were taken into custody in Nevada the next day. Anderson and Thomas Miller of Decatur left the area after Hubbartt's death, but were arrested in Nevada on unrelated charges. The disposition of those charges delayed the return of the two to Shelby County. Miller was returned first in late September to face charges of concealment of homicidal death and possession of a stolen vehicle. He is next due in court on October 8th.
Judge Allan Lolie appointed Shelby County Public Defender Brad Rau to represent Anderson. He is due in court for his first appearance with counsel and a preliminary hearing on October 13.
