Bryan to be Charged w/Sexual Assault of a Child

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler Friday said he plans to charge a local man with a Class X Felony count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

Effingham city police officers arrested 53-year-old Kenneth E. Bryan of Effingham on Thursday. The allegation of criminal sexual assault of a child alleges the victim is under 13 years old.

Kibler said he plans to charge Bryan with one count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child and a Class 1 Felony count of criminal sexual assault of a child. The Class X felony would be punishable by a minimum of six to 30 years in prison, while the Class 1 felony count could mean up to 15 years in prison, but probation could be an option.

Kibler said a preliminary bond of $500,000 for Bryan has been set. He expects to be in court on Monday.
