Firefighters Have Early Call to Quad Graphics

Effingham firefighters had an early morning call to Quad Graphics.

Fire crews were called at 1:30am to the Quad Graphics location on Industrial Drive. The crews encountered a fire in an industrial waste paper compactor.

Effingham Fire Chief Bob Tutko said crews deployed a hose line from the first arriving engine to extinguish the fire. Crews were assisted by Quad Graphics personnel who were able to extract the compacted paper from the machine so it could be confirmed that all contents were extinguished.

There were no injuries, and no serious damage to the equipment. Tutko said Quad Graphics was able to resume operations.
